Early bird gets the worm… I do know that I’m too early for the Onam Sadhya game this year. But, it was my shrewd mind that convinced me to try the Sadhya before it starts getting crowded. Also, Sadhya is one thing or for that matter all Meals (Banana leaf ones) are best devoured in Dine- in rather than a take away in my personal opinion. And, of course I’m not going to ever get a homemade Sadhya as I know no one who will treat me to one.So, ended up checking the “Ente Keralam” Sadhya which has been rolled out to public, already.
Priced at ₹399 (all inclusive) this Sadhya shook me up a bit. Everything on the plate adorned by a Banana leaf, was divine. Maybe it’s because of the occasion that I’m relating this experience to the adjective “Divine”. You’ll have to believe me when I say I finished 3 serving cups of the Pineapple Pachadi, all by myself. I’m not exaggerating, here.
All the elements of a Sadhya were quiet intact in the spread. The items in the spread are explained in the pictures. The menu on the day I went was – Moru, Rice, Sambar, Rasam, Kachiya Moru, Avial, Cabbage Thoran, Pineapple Pachadi, Beetroot Kichadi, Nei Parippu, Yellow Pumkin Errissery, White Pumpkin Olan, Kalan, Curd, Lemon Pickle, Mango Pickle, Inji Puli, Inji Thayir, Pazham, Pappadam and the Kondattams. Sweet dishes were – Ada Pradhaman, Paal Ada payasam, Jackfruit Pradhaman, Parippu Payasam. It will be a rotational menu. Chef Shibu who is behind the scenes this year for the Sadhya has got every dish spot-on.
As far as the most important factor these days that’s on everyone’s mind for a safe Dine-in, all rules were being followed. It wasn’t much of a hassle to Dine-in without the AC, or maybe I was too engrossed with the good food.
